As a composer, I have written music for various theater, dance and media productions.
Composing music in my youth was regularly, along side studying the cello, I was minimising the lights in my room and starting creating sounds. I was often naming my sketches to names as ”dimension” or ”world” in order to dive into my feelings and thoughts or just while playing these tunes give myself a moment to enter this sound-(e)scapes.
Years later I returned into creating music in the same paths and style, and I always strive to capture the ephemeral moment with my music. Its nature is explorative and provocative, surprising and challenging. Coaxing electronically modulated sounds from just about every crevice of the instrument’s hollow body. My work draws huge cello synth-like overtones from manipulated pulls of the bow, electronic percussive elements and lines that skirt the periphery of neo-classical experimental electronic compositions.

WE’LL MEET AGAIN
2020
A virus has stopped our world, our lives have been ‘cancelled’ for some time and we wonder whether we have a right to exist. Many art forms have now disappeared. Is art useless in times of uncertainties? No, art shares an unexpected quality with the corona virus, it abolishes our normal, safe existence, turns certainties upside down, breaks every routine, with that one difference: the virus keeps us inside, art takes us outside.

CELLECTRIC
solo cd album
e-cello and live electronics

Antonis invites his audience to join him on a journey through light and dark, the ultimate encounter with reality. CELLECTRIC creates an atmosphere that expresses emotions and desires that one cannot express in words: a trek through cinematic tunes with hidden contemporary elements and spiced up with elements of sadness, desire, joy and many other emotions life evokes.

Antonis captures the ephemeral moment with his music. Its nature is explorative and provocative, surprising and challenging. He approaches the cello composition as a mixing board. Coaxing electronically modulated sounds from just about every crevice of the instrument’s hollow body, Pratsinakis’s work draws huge cello synth-like overtones from manipulated pulls of the bow, electronic percussive elements and lines that skirt the periphery of neo-classical experimental electronic compositions.

‘’The feelings of modern dance and the ‘’grandfather of hundred plays’’ Kunqu meet each other to create a creative artistic spark’’
‘’The addition of cello melody enriched the expression of the soundtrack’’
Xinhua News Agency, reporter Lin Liping

‘’The cello music of the modern dance group adds a new dimension to the peony pavilion’’
‘’This is the first cross-border cooperation between Kunqu and Modern Dance. The two art forms are different and complement each other allowing the audience to appreciate the classical subtle beauty of Kunqu opera and the tension and personality of modern dance.’’

The Nonsense Society
acoustic and e-cello | live electronics

dance performance

Jasper van Luijk delved into the life of composer Franz Schubert, who led a tough and short life. But he was also a man who was passionate about society. The central theme of this performance is desire. The desire that can be heard in Schubert’s work, his desire for better conditions, his desire for beauty. The desire for what has not been achieved and what might be unattainable. Inspired by this longing, Jasper reflects, together with his dancers and cellist Antonis Pratsinakis, on the life of Schubert. Compositions by Schubert are torn apart and merged with compelling new works by Antonis.
